Good info about brain supplements and how to take them.
I found "Building Brain Power" to be a fascinating, well-written and well-researched book. I have long thought that intelligence it's not something that you are born with (though you are, certainly, born with the potential for different levels of intelligence), but something that can be cultivated and increased through learning and finding other ways to exercise your brain. This book pretty much confirmed my theory! For this purpose I generally tend to stick with more intellectual games, such as sudoku, logic puzzles and cryptograms. I encourage my children to play intellectual games as well. But as the author points out, it is important to do more than just haphazardly playing games here and there instead, one should be sure to utilize a variety of games and exercises that target different brain functions for a more well-rounded "brain workout." The author offers a variety of different options for enhancing different types of brain function. While I already engage in some of these, I found that there are a lot more that I could be doing, which target areas of my brain that I have been neglecting. I am particularly excited to begin working on some of the exercises that increase focus, which is a weak area for me. I think I will also be encouraging my daughter with ADHD to do the same!
This book will give your brain a vigorous workout! Excellent book to use at any age. This would help a lot of older individuals who don't exercise their brains as much as they can and should! Amazing book!
Building Brain Power provides lots of detailed information and practical advice on improving your cognitive abilities, memorization skills, and intelligence -- including both mental exercises and lifestyle enhancements. I'm new to this field, but was interested in the topic because my youngest daughter has found the amount of studying and memorization required to succeed in college to be difficult for her. I'm eager for her to try out some of the great suggestions in this book.
Considering the low price of this book, I expected it to be a cursory overview of the topic. I was pleasantly surprised at the depth with which it covers different approaches for maintaining brain health, including dietary interventions and nootropic substances, as well as games and activities. With Alzheimer's on the rise, we should all be concerned about preserving our cognitive function as we grow older. If you use your mind for work, school, or recreation, you should read this book!
Just like building up our muscles by going to the gym, this book teaches us how to build up our brain power by proper lifestyle, mental and physical exercises, diet and nootropic supplement.
The nootropic supplement is something new to me and the chapter has tons of information.
I am glad to know that playing chess helps to improve cognitive abilities, as chess is a game I enjoy.
